Supposedly Haunted Marietta Confederate Cemetery
I don’t always believe that orbs appearing in photos at haunted locations are in fact paranormal as they can be explained by a lot of different things such as dust. However, a trip to Marietta Confederate Cemetery/Old Marietta City Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia one cold night proves otherwise, in my opinion. I’m not saying these photos I’ve taken are definitely ghosts haunting an old cemetery in Marietta, but they are definitely something I cannot explain. Could this confederate cemetery in historic Marietta, Georgia be a haunted cemetery housing the ghosts of civil war soldiers and slaves?
- Blue Balls of Light “Orbs” Flying Through the Air
Could these photos be bugs flying through the chilly air? Or could it really be paranormal phenomenon?
Aside from the orb photos taken at the Marietta Confederate Cemetery I also shot a photo of what appears to be mist flowing from a gated family grave. I’m not sure wether or not this could be a form of ectoplasm. Temperatures were in the 30’s that night.

Marietta Cemetery EVP: “Everywhere”
I recorded exactly 1 hour and 23 minutes at Marietta City Cemetery. Unfortunately the cemetery was right next to train tracks and a fairly busy road so at many points it was hard to even hear myself talking. There was really no way around this since the train runs non-stop. However I was able to catch this sound when Jenn and I were walking through the area of unknown graves near the Confederate part of the cemetery. She ask where the unknown grave are and after a few seconds a reply comes back that sounds like everywhere. At first I thought it could be me whispering it, but I don’t think I would have waited that long to reply to her. Thats was the only sound I caught that could no be explained. But, as I said, there was the almost constant sound of cars and/or train run plus it was pretty windy. There could have been other sounds but it would have been near impossible for me with my equipment to pick out from the extremely loud background noises. One thing I would like to note, though it has nothing to do with EVPs, was that the moment we stepped into the cemetery I felt a very distinct temperature change. I noticed it when Ryan and I explored it earlier that day and Emma noticed when we came later that night and I hadn’t metioned it to her before hand. That will be all for a while from me since we won’t be heading out until after New Years Day. I would like to wish everyone who visits this blog a very Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukkah, Happy New Years, and whatever else you may celebrate during this time!

The stories of hauntings at that cemetery are numerous. After reading of some of them, I have frequented that cemetery many times, and have stood exactly where you’ve stood.
The highest level of activity seems to be near the top of the hill, near that sitting statue. The strangest thing though is a MAN who seems as real as myself and sits at the gazebo/pavallion behind you in that photo you took showing the statue (it’s past the war graves near outer fence). Whatever it is will sit there and talk with you from a distance, even conversations, then will inexplicably vanish after wards! This entity/apparition is typically seen on about 6 out of 10 visits. It is harmless I believe. I have never appraoched it close enough in the darkness to make out any distinguishable features. Any time I’ve seen it, others also see it and speak with it. It’s baffling.
The cemetery as located on Atlanta Road in Marietta. It’s at the corner where S. Marietta St and St. Atlanta Rd. intersect.
Me and a friend visited this cemetery one night in early this pas november. We entered the gate that enters the conferdate cemetery as we walked under the arch way. We noticed up aways near the sitting statue there was a man that looked like a shadow walking fast around the big oak tree. Then he went behind the tree poke his head around to look at us. In a matter of seconds he appeared a 15 or 10 feet in front of us. The man looked like a shadow that was glowin alittle he did seem too happy to see us because of the way he stood. So we got out of there quickly. Now that the recent time of went there in the day time that area of the cemetery were the statue is and gazebo i feel that someone is there and i heard a dismbodied voice of a man laughing.
My Dad would seldom walk thru this cemetery when I was a child and comeback home talking about this man that would talk to him and then eventually disappear. We always thought he was just pulling our legs. Well in 06 I came up to visit and during lunch with my folks we started talking about that…laughing.. calling his bluff…so after lunch we went there just to prove my Dad wrong. When we got there that was the first place we hit was the gazebo…nothing happened..so we stared ragging on him, well we ended up looking around the cemetery as we always found it so interesting. Probaly there a good hour and a half walking all the way on the opposite end towards Mary Phagans grave and back. Well finally we started back to the car which just happened to be parked near the path closest to the gazebo…so as we are walking to the car..talking laughing etc we hear a voice from over in that direction…we turned around, looked and there he was…..we looked at my dad as if he was the ghost cause he proved to us this ghost did exist. All our hairs stood on the back of our necks. He (the man ghost) eventually disappeared after we all stood there for what we felt was minutes was probaly actually seconds. I will never forget that for as long as I live.
Wow, we have received a lot of comments regarding a man visiting this cemetery. We will definitely try to check this place out again soon.
